Supporting CCGs to implement PINCER

PRIMIS, part of the School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham, is holding a series of one-hour webinars in collaboration with KSS AHSN throughout February aimed at anyone with an interest in Medication Safety.

The PRIMIS team will provide an update on recent developments with the PINCER platform and the national programme of work with KSS AHSN support to facilitate the sessions.

Prescribing errors in general practice are an important and expensive preventable cause of safety incidents, illness, hospitalisation and even deaths. The rate of errors is estimated to be 5%, with serious errors affecting around 1 in 500 of all prescription items.

PINCER is a pharmacist-led information technology intervention for reducing clinically important errors in general practice prescribing. It has been shown, in a large cluster randomised controlled trial published in The Lancet, to reduce medication error rates by up to 50%.

By attending this webinar, you will find out how the AHSN and the PINCER team at the University of Nottingham can support your CCG to successfully implement PINCER.

To register, please pick one session from the dates and times listed below. Webinar details will follow by separate email.
