UK Sepsis Trust publishes latest version of its Sepsis Manual

The fourth edition of the UK Sepsis Trust’s sepsis manual is now available to download for free.

The manual is a comprehensive, peer-reviewed manual which supports the training and education of all healthcare professionals at every level in how to diagnose and treat sepsis.

It is edited by specialists Dr Ron Daniels and Dr Tim Nutbeam of the UK Sepsis Trust, and Health Education England (HEE) are in full support of the guide.

The manual includes UKST’s ‘Sepsis Six’ pathway and includes crucial instructions for treating the under-recognised Post-Sepsis Syndrome.

Commenting on the manual’s publication, Dr Ron Daniels BEM, Chief Executive of the UK Sepsis Trust, said: “Education is one of the UK Sepsis Trust’s three core objectives, so we’re delighted to produce a manual that provides detailed education free of charge for every healthcare professional in the UK.

“Following commitments from Jeremy Hunt in 2017, we continue to urge the Department of Health to take decisive action. We need sepsis training to be mandatory for healthcare professionals across the NHS if we are to deliver consistent care and save the thousands of lives that are within our reach. In the meantime, UKST’s handbook will support other excellent resources made available by Health Education England.”
